The PMBJP initiative, launched by the Government of India, aims to provide affordable alternatives to expensive branded drugs without compromising on quality and efficacy.

Our dedicated distribution network ensures an uninterrupted supply of Jan Aushadhi medicines to all ESI, CGHS hospitals, and Jan Aushadhi Kendras (PMBJK) across West Bengal, JHARKHAND, BIHAR, ODDISA, ASSAM, MEGHALAYA, TRIPURA, PART OF UTTARPRADESH, MADHYA PRADESH and all over INDIA. By leveraging our logistics expertise and digitalized supply chain, we are committed to making essential medicines available where they are needed the most.

Through this initiative, we aim to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses for millions while strengthening India's healthcare infrastructure.

Objectives of PMBJP

  • Make quality medicines available at affordable prices for all, particularly the poor and disadvantaged, through exclusive outlets "Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras", so as to reduce out of pocket expenses in healthcare.
  • Create awareness about generic medicines through education and publicity so that quality is not synonymous with only high price.
  • Create demand for generic medicines by improving access to better healthcare through low treatment cost and easy availability wherever needed in all therapeutic categories.

Implementation of PMBJP

PMBJP is being implemented through Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI), which has been established under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India, with the support of all the CPSUs.

  • Ensure access to quality medicines.
  • Extend coverage of quality generic medicines so as to reduce the out of pocket expenditure on medicines and thereby redefine the unit cost of treatment per person.
  • Create awareness about generic medicines through education and publicity so that quality is not synonymous with only high price.
  • A public programme involving Government, PSUs, Private Sector, NGOs, Societies, Co-operative Bodies and other Institutions.
  • Create demand for generic medicines by improving access to better healthcare through low treatment cost and easy availability wherever needed in all therapeutic categories.

Benefits of PMBJP

The Janaushadhi medicines are priced 50%-90% less than that of branded medicines available in the market. This has resulted in substantial savings to the common people of the country.

Quality Assurance

Each batch of drug is tested at laboratories accredited by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories). The medicines are at par with standards specified in Indian Pharmacopoeia/IP, British Pharmacopoeia/BP, and United States Pharmacopoeia/USP.
